Motor & physical Skills - Toddler

Toddlers (1 to 3 year old kids) are full of exuberance as they learn crawling, walking, running and everything in between. This phase is crucial for skeletal & muscular development. Toddlers develop the below mentioned motor & physical skills during this period:-

  • Stands on tiptoes.
  • Throws the ball overhand in a specific direction, 10 feet
  • Throws overhand
  • Kicks ball with demonstration. Kicks a ball forward.
  • Feeds self with spoon and drinks with a cup.
  • Helps dress and undress self.
  • Builds a tower of four or more blocks.
  • Puts simple puzzles together.
  • Climbs on and off furniture without help.
  • Walks well. Walks alone, and begins to run and walk up steps.
  • Walks backward pulling the toy.
  • Climbs and runs well.
  • Walks upstairs with support, alternating feet (18–36m)
  • Walks downstairs with support, putting both feet on each step (20–24m)
  • Walks upstairs with support, putting both feet on each step (16–24m)
  • Walks up and downstairs, with one foot on each step.
  • Jumps with both feet, and may hop on one foot.
  • Pedals tricycle or three-wheel bike.
